BASS (British Alpine Seeding System)

Publication and cut-off dates

The intended publication dates and cut-off dates for submission of official results for 2017 BASS lists are shown below. Lists will be published monthly during the season, coinciding with the publication of FIS lists. FIS lists are published on a Tuesday making them available for input into the next BASS list which will then be published on Wednesday. Both BASS and FIS lists then become valid from Thursday. The only exception to this at present is that BASS list 6 is not valid until Friday to avoid changing list between day 1 and day 2 of the Inter Schools Spring Series.

F Values 2017

F values for the 2016-17 winter season are as follows:

Publication and Validity Dates

The tables show the intended publication and validity dates for each list. For results to appear on a seed list, official results must be available by the cut-off date shown in the table. There is a short period between cut-off and publication to allow time for the official results to be validated.

Where a publication date falls between a race closing date and the race itself, then one list would be used for acceptance, and the new list for the race itself. Although this causes extra work for the race organisers, the race calendar is so full that there is no way to avoid this situation completely.

Two sets of seed lists are produced for artificial slope races, one for indoor slopes and the other for outdoor.

How Seeding Works

Results

Results from all 'approved' calendar races (U14 age group and upwards) are collated and processed at intervals during the season to produce the Seed Lists, which are then published in various formats. Although often used to measure individual performance, Seed Lists are officially used to check eligibility against race entry criteria, and to determine race start order.

Registration

To be included in the seeding system, you need to be registered with one of the registration bodies. For anyone other than services personnel, this means one of Snowsports England, Wales or Scotland.

Please note: if you change registration body between seasons, for example registering with Snowsport Scotland when you have previously been registered with England, you need to inform us via email at seeding@gbski.com so that your points can be transferred across to your new registration number. It may not happen automatically!

Software

Race results for BARTS seeding can only be accepted from SkiPro software (either the original event files or a ".spro" backup). The latest copy of SkiPro can be downloaded from Vola.fr, or there is a version here on the Software page.
